How do you adjust suspension damping?
To set your suspension’s rebound damping, find a kerb. Dial off all your rebound damping to minimum. Ride off the kerb, while standing up on the pedals, at slow to mid-paced speed. Your suspension will probably compress, quickly re-extend (past the sag point), compress again and then re-extend again.
How does damping affect suspension?
Suspension damping is the process of controlling or stopping the spring’s oscillation, either when it compresses or rebounds (usually both). By forcing the fluid through different size and shape ports, shims and tunnels, the damping cartridge can control the compression and rebound speed… or stop it altogether.

How much air should I put in my shocks?
The proper pressure of an air shock should be between 35 and 75 PSI. If it is any lower than this, the shocks will need to be filled with air.

Are air shocks better than regular shocks?
Air shocks are typically lighter, more easily tuneable (being able to change their spring load via a shock pump, rather than a new coil spring), and work well with virtually any suspension linkage. Modern air shocks are highly tuneable, comparatively inexpensive, and robust.
Do air shocks ride rough?
Registered. Most air shocks are heavy duty and do ride somewhat rough even without being aired up and will ride rougher with high air pressures. Re-arching can work well and a spring shop should be able to tell you if your springs are worth working on.
Can you drive with broken air suspension?
No. It is not recommended. A damaged or collapsed spring can cause sagging and noise and affect alignment angles. While you can still drive, the ride will be rough and the car will be difficult to control in an emergency.
How long do air suspensions last?
One company estimates you’ll need to replace each air suspension bag between 50,000 and 70,000 miles, while another estimates replacement every 10 years. In all cases, suspension air bags are in use at all times if you’re driving and even when you’re not.
