Currently, passengers can avail:
- SMS train enquiry services by sending SMS to 139.
- Call or voice information enquiry services by dialing 139.
- Online train enquiry services through websites and mobile apps.
Can we see the chart of train online?
The new feature is available on the web as well as the mobile version of IRCTC’s e-ticket booking platform. To use the facility, log on to the IRCTC website and view ‘Charts/Vacancy’ option. Enter journey details like train number, data and boarding station to receive access to the correct chart.

The PNR number consists of 10 digits , where the first 3 digits specify the PRS (Passenger Reservation System) from which the ticket is booked. The first digit of the PNR number specify that the zone of the train (starting station of the train) of the ticket.
How does a PNR number look like?
PNR is the abbreviation of Passenger Name Record and it is a digital certificate allowing passengers to do online check-in or manage their bookings in a short time. Also used as booking number, Passenger Name Record is a code with 6 alphanumeric characters (letters and numbers are used together).
