What happens to dustfinger in Inkdeath?
Dustfinger is a fire eater who was plucked from a different world along with Capricorn and Basta through a fantasy novel read aloud by Mortimer Folchart. Dustfinger was fated to die at the hands of Capricorn’s men whilst trying to save his marten, Gwin.
Does Farid die in Inkheart?
“Death” Farid aided Dustfinger while they sneaked into the Castle of Night, and they both fight against the Adder’s men in the battle that ensues. Basta threw his knife into Farid’s back and killed him. After the battle ended, Dustfinger took Farid to the mines, where both he and Meggie cried for him.
Does Farid like Meggie?
He had affectionate feelings for Meggie, and expressed his feelings for her and they were somewhat a couple for a period of time, however, after Dustfinger’s death, Farid became obsessed with finding ways to bring him back, and worked for Orpheus, thus barely spending time with Meggie.

Both being orphaned at a young age, the Black Prince and Dustfinger became close friends after the Motley Folk took them in. After Dustfinger dies, the Prince shaves his head, showing that he is a close friend. Although both he and Dustfinger get along, their animal companions do not.
Why did dustfinger leave Gwin behind?
Gwin first appeared when Dustfinger showed him to Meggie Folchart in the camper van. In Elinor’s massive library, Meggie saw an illustration in the book, Inkheart that was eerily similar to Gwin. Knowing this, Dustfinger intentionally left Gwin behind when he went back to Inkworld when Orpheus read him back.
Is there any romance in Inkheart?
