What is a windage tray for oil pans?
Windage is the flow of air within the crankcase. The windage tray keeps the windage around the crank from the oil in the sump area. It allows the oil coming off the crank to easily enter the sump without the windage affecting the scavenging of oil already in the sump.
Are all big block Chevy oil pans the same?
Gen V and VI 6-quart truck pans used on 454/502 HO engines (PN 10198992) do not fit early Camaros or Chevelles. However, a Gen V and VI 4-quart pan (PN 10185076) does fit them. Oil dipsticks for all big-blocks are the same.
Are all LS oil pans interchangeable?

How are oil pans measured?
Place a straight edge on the bottom of your oil pan that extends out past the sides. Measure up from the straight edge to the pan rail close to the 3rd bolt back from the front. Report your findings to the nearest 1/8″. Lay a straight edge across the pan rails at the 3rd bolt hole back from the front.

How do you measure the depth of an oil pan?
Place a straight edge on pickup and measure the distance from the block’s pan rail to the straight edge. Record this measurement as pickup height. Then measure the distance from the oil pan bottom to the pan rail. Record this measurement as pan depth.
