How does Irukandji jellyfish reproduce?
Mature polyps reproduced through asexual reproduction via lateral budding producing ciliated swimming polyps, which in turn settled and developed into secondary polyps. Medusae production for this species was in the form of monodisc strobilation, which left behind polyps able to continue asexual reproduction.
Where do Irukandji breed?
Far north Queensland researchers have discovered a breeding site for the potentially deadly irukandji jellyfish. Dr Jamie Seymour from James Cook University in Cairns says his team found the site off Double Island, north of Cairns and collected more samples in two days than in all his years of research.

Four Mile Beach in Port Douglas was closed earlier today after a saltwater crocodile was sighted in the water. A Surf Life Saving Queensland spokesperson said lifeguards closed the beach at around 9:15am.
