Knox was a learned clergyman who was influenced by John Calvin in Switzerland and inspired to bring religious reform to Scotland. John Knox, a leader of the Scottish Reformation, died on 24 November 1572 in Edinburgh. He preached until his final days and died whilst hearing Bible readings from his friends and wife.
