Is Ash gourd and pumpkin same?
Ash gourd also known as winter melon or white pumpkin is a very large fruit and is eaten as a vegetable when it matures. It has a white flesh and a sweet taste however when it matures it forms a waxy surface this is the reason why it is also called wax gourd.
What is Chinese squash?
It is typically a larger variety squash that has a waxy dark green speckled skin that contains tiny prickly hairs. The outer skin covers a white firm inner flesh. This vegetable is widely grown to be eaten raw or as a cooked and roasted vegetable.

Gently wash the gourds in a mild soapy dish detergent and rinse thoroughly. Wipe the gourds dry and spray lightly with a household disinfectant or mist with rubbing alcohol. Heat accelerates drying and darkness will preserve the gourd’s color. You can also place the gourds under a fan to speed up the drying process.
Can rats eat gourds?
Pumpkins are fine for rats to eat. Flesh of pumpkins is a safe food if your mice will eat it as some can be very choosy to what they want to eat. Pumpkins, gourds, and dried corn are all perfectly acceptable (and often desirable) foods for rodents.
