What does the autograder do?
Autograders are widely used in computer science and engineering programs, particularly in large introductory-level courses such as the one at Berkeley, which has more than 800 students. Autograders test students’ computer programs, identify errors in their work and assign a score.

Autograder Python is used for Python Assignments. It is developed for easy handling of students’ assignments. Besides this, this system is used for grading functionality for the students and also generates submission reports for the teachers.
What is Autograding?
The first of these is autograding, which does exactly what the name promises. Teachers can now add tests to their workflows that automatically test assignments and grade them accordingly. These tests then run automatically on every student repository. Autograding, of course, will save teachers quite a bit of time.
What does ungraded mean in Gradescope?
By default, ungraded assignments are NOT included in any assignment total calculations. This means that when assignments are left as “ungraded” (shown with a ‘-‘ dash), they are treated as if they never happened.

Can Gradescope record you?
Only you as the instructor can set assignment settings. You as the instructor can choose to record students as they work. No recording will begin without students being alerted first. No one will be watching students in real-time while they work.

Does Canvas know if you screenshot?
As far as I know, no, it doesn’t record if a student took a screen shot or not. The best way to confirm this is to contact Canvas Support and see what they have to say. You can do this by going to the quiz log in question and then clicking on the Help link (bottom left) and Report a Problem.
Does Canvas know if you open another tab?

They can’t track what you’re viewing, but they can check if you’re viewing the test and if you’ve clicked out of the test. Theoretically you’d have zero reason to leave the test at all. Also, instructors can look at your canvas profile and see if you open it with another device.

More likely, the school has software enabled that monitors browsing history and flags suspicious sites for someone to review.
