An economist by training, a specialist in Russia and ethnographer, Caroline Dufy offers with The bartering in the market. For a sociology of trade in post-soviet Russia, a book extremely robust, from his thesis of sociology, led by Jacques Sapir and sustained in 2004. This thesis, devoted to the emergence of the problem of barter in the 1990s in Russia, aims to shed light on the evolution of the phenomenon in the economic context of the time, while explaining the reasons of political and theoretical of the considerable success of the debate on the barter in the 1990s in Russia. Based on a field survey conducted in enterprises of the Ural region and on interviews conducted with business executives and professionals in the Russian market, this work is part of the power of the New Sociology Economic (NSE) that, in the wake of the american sociologist Mark Granovetter, has sought to invest in the fields of the contemporary world that were previously reserved for economists such as the currency or finance. It also fits with Florence Weber, who wrote the book, in the course of the ethnography of economic.
