The network thinking. To understand the digital society. A book, published under the direction of Pascal Lardellier and Philippe Ricaud (Editions universitaires de Dijon, coll. “Companies “, 2007, 192 p.)
This work directed by Pascal Lardellier and Philippe Ricaud brings together the analyses of specialists in the sciences of information and communication. These contributions, all quite short, and be organized in four blocks. The first part, entitled, ” Thinking about the digital society “, adopts a posture of reflexivity epistemological technologies of information and communication technology (ICT). Serge Proulx in his contribution, “Think of the uses of ICT today : issues, models, trends,” defends the thesis that the Internet is more than just a new media. Associated with the introduction of the ” networked society “1, the Internet is perceived as a vector for economic and social innovation. The author distinguishes seven spheres of the changes associated with the Internet : communication, policy, sociability, identity, cultural creation, human work, the economy. It is then to Proulx, these foundations laid, to demonstrate what are the new uses of ICT induced by the Internet. These uses are unfortunately no longer listed that truly explained, and the research by the author of the ” social construction of practice “, presented as an analysis model, could be applied in a tangible way to a concrete case in order to be fully understandable : the chapter, stimulating in its programmatic nature, leaves the reader on his end. But it is also the case of the whole of the chapters, which is due to the general economy of the book providing numerous contributions which are intended to stimulate the reader’s interest, outlining the issues of the research without answering fully.
