When should I take my 2021 MCAT?
April-June 2021 Prepare for and take the MCAT if you have not already taken the test or need to retake. Take the MCAT in the spring if possible, but no later than early summer in order to have scores submitted to the schools early in the cycle.
Is August MCAT too late?
August and September are considered late in the cycle. But with a strong application, you can still be accepted when applying late. We’ll also be covering what’s late for osteopathic vs allopathic schools. (Hint: There is really no difference in the timeline.)

Although the deadlines for many medical schools fall in October, some range as late as December. In short, September is simply too late to submit an application to medical school. August is borderline. Submitting in or before mid-July is reasonably safe, and June is ideal.

May and June test dates are still early enough for a reasonable application timeline. Just make sure you have your applications ready to go the day you submit your MCAT scores. August and September test dates are pushing the boundaries. Yes.
Is submitting secondaries in August late?
Mid-July is fine, but you will feel nervous waiting for your secondaries while everyone else is completing them. Do not submit in August. Every year we work with applicants who submit in August and do not get in simply because they were late in the process. Applicants with very strong applications.
Is September too late for secondaries?
Even though MCAT deadlines have been pushed to the fall, September is indeed too late to submit your medical school application because most schools would already choose their interviewees by then. August isn’t as extreme, but your chances may be a bit more narrow.
Is taking the MCAT in July too late?
If you take the exam in July, your score won’t be released until late August. While late August-early September is an okay time for your file to be complete, you won’t have the advantage of applying early in the cycle. Also, your MCAT score heavily influences what schools you should be applying to.
Is a 512 MCAT good?
