What is the SONA system?
Sona Systems is an online system that Monash Institute of Cognitive and Clinical Neurosciences (MICCN) uses to manage and schedule research projects within the Monash community. Anyone who is enrolled as a participant in the participant pool is able to view and participate in current research projects.

What happens if a student participant No shows twice for studies they signed up to participate in Sona?
No-shows will be noted in the Sona system as ‘NO-SHOWS. ‘ Your instructor may have specific repercussions for no-shows or incentives for attending all research you sign up for. If you no-show for a study, it is possible that you will not be able to sign up for the same study again.
How do I get a SONA account?
Creating a Student Account
- Please visit the Department’s Sona Systems web site.
- Go to the section on the left that reads “New Participant” and click on the link titled “Request an account here”.
- Follow the instructions on the page.
- Once you have typed in your information, click the “Request Account” button.
How do I link my SONA to qualtrics?

What happens if you miss a SONA study?
Late Policy In the event that a researcher is more than 10 minutes late or does not show up for a scheduled appointment, the participant is entitled to credit (for the value of credit assigned to the Study). If the researcher is late the participant will receive credit from the experimenter.
What is my SONA ID?
The SONA ID is the number listed under your name in your SONA account. This will ensure your participation credit is issued correctly to your account after you have completed the entire study. You will earn the units of credit associated with the study after completion.
