What happens to water that soaks into the ground?
Infiltration happens when water soaks into the soil from the ground level. It moves underground and moves between the soil and rocks. Some of the water will be soaked up by roots to help plants grow. Some of the water keeps moving down into the soil to a level that is filled with water, called ground water.
What is it called when rain water goes into the ground?
When rain falls to the ground, the water does not stop moving. Water seeping down from the land surface adds to the ground water and is called recharge water. Ground water is recharged from rain water and snowmelt or from water that leaks through the bottom of some lakes and rivers.

Why the speed of glacier is so slow?
The sheer weight of a thick layer of ice, or the force of gravity on the ice mass, causes glaciers to flow very slowly. Ice is a soft material, in comparison to rock, and is much more easily deformed by this relentless pressure of its own weight.
Do glaciers really move?
Glaciers move by a combination of (1) deformation of the ice itself and (2) motion at the glacier base. This means a glacier can flow up hills beneath the ice as long as the ice surface is still sloping downward. Because of this, glaciers are able to flow out of bowl-like cirques and overdeepenings in the landscape.
