What do wind direction symbols mean?
The symbol highlighted in yellow (in the diagram above) is known as a “Wind Barb”. The wind barb indicates the wind direction and wind speed. Wind barbs point in the direction “from” which the wind is blowing. Wind speed is given here in the units of “knots” (knt).
What does the percentage mean on the weather app?
It is essentially a relationship between confidence (how confident the forecaster/app is that precipitation will occur) and coverage (the percentage of the total forecast area that will see precipitation). The amount of precipitation doesn’t matter (more on that later).
Why does my weather app say negative zero?
Short explanation: It’s because the temperatures are rounded towards the nearest integer and if the unrounded number was negative, the sign bit sticks around. There is no numerical difference and it’s simply a quirk of how floating point numbers are stored in memory.
What does the wavy lines mean on the Weather Channel app?
squiggly lines
What is poor visibility?
Poor visibility is the result of a combination of fog and/or clouds moving in which, in combination with snow, cause what is referred to as a ‘white-out’. Poor visibility can also be caused when the fog or remnants of the clouds are pushed upwards against the mountain.
How can you determine that the visibility is good?
How we measure visibility
- An object should not merely be seen but should be identifiable against the background as a specific object.
- Visibility should be estimated at ground level where there is an uninterrupted view of the horizon.
- If the visibility varies from one direction to another, the lowest value should be reported.
What are the types of visibility?
There are three types of Visibility modes:
- Public Visibility mode: If we derive a subclass from a public base class.
- Protected Visibility mode: If we derive a subclass from a Protected base class.
- Private Visibility mode: If we derive a subclass from a Private base class.
What does visibility mean?
1 : the quality or state of being visible. 2a : the degree of clearness (as of the atmosphere or ocean) specifically : the greatest distance through the atmosphere toward the horizon at which prominent objects can be identified with the naked eye. b : capability of being readily noticed.
