Mathematica is a wonderful environment to do science – not only math – and you will find it useful in many ways in the years to come. Consider it as an investment. Wolfram did a very good thing (marketing-wise it’s more a pusher’s move… ๐ ) with the Home edition, so that it is now affordable to almost everyone.
Is Mathematica easy to use?
I would say that Mathematica has a steeper learning curve than something like MATLAB, but it is well worth it, and definitely possible to teach yourself. There are videos on youtube, and great documentation. Remember that the style of Mathematica is different than most languages.
