Can you camp in Lake District?
Wild camping is not permitted anywhere in the Lake District without prior permission from the landowner. As the National Park Authority we do not have the power to allow camping on private land and we do not permit camping on the small amount of land that we own.

Can you walk all the way around Derwentwater?
Circular walk around Derwentwater The walk around Derwentwater is a beautiful, 10 mile route. With flat and easy paths, you pass through woodland and along the lake shore. There are places to stop for picnics and cafes, and the Keswick launch to take for some of the route if you fancy a short cut!
Can you walk around Bassenthwaite?
Bassenthwaite Lake has a unique position at the foot of the Skiddaw fells on one side and Barf, Ladies Table and Sale Fell on the other. The lake is approximately four miles long and ¾ mile wide. This is a low level walk with stunning views.

1. Go through a gate 100m east of the church onto a footpath which rises diagonally up the hill. Very soon you will come to a bench above Wythop St Margaret’s Church with views over Bassenthwaite Lake. Continue up the grassy path until you come to a T-junction.

Can you walk around Ennerdale Water?
A walk round Ennerdale Water is probably the most satisfying lakeside walk within the Lake District. The path along the back of Ullswater is more picturesque but the remoteness of Ennerdale gives the walk an edge not found near the more popular lakes.

It is 2.5 miles long, 0.75 miles wide and 148 feet deep, and it serves as a reservoir for the coastal towns of West Cumbria. After around 20 minutes of walking, you will arrive at the head of Ennerdale Water.

Can you kayak on Buttermere?
