You cannot fail a DofE Expedition. However at the end of a practice expedition we occasionally have to recommend that some groups undertake further training and practice to ensure that they are fully prepared to safely undertake an unaccompanied qualifying expedition.

- Shops: Roles include customer service, sorting donations and merchandising.
- Fundraising: Fundraise for the charity.
- Reading Leaders volunteers: Each volunteer works with one or two students, helping them to read, once or twice per week (depending on their school).
- Retail volunteer: Help in a charity shop.
How long do you have to complete DofE?
Depending on your age, you are free to start at any level but most people prefer to start at Bronze and work upwards. It will usually take you at least 6 months to complete your Bronze programme. You also have to spend an extra three months on one of the Volunteering, Physical or Skills sections.
What evidence is needed for DofE?
You need to upload evidence that you have completed each of your Physical, Skill and Volunteering Sections (school will do this for the Expedition) to eDofE and SUBMIT each of your Sections as complete. You should have followed two of these Sections for at least 3 months and the other for 6 months.
What happens if you dont complete DofE?
If for whatever reason you cannot complete all the sections of your DofE programme you can still be recognised for the section(s) you have completed. Your DofE Leader may arrange to use sectional certificates.
