How long do sea monkeys live?
Their lifespan can be up to one year and we have had many customer who keep their Sea Monkey® colonies alive for as much as 5 years. Sea Monkeys® are the fun lovable little creatures that are too small to hug , but are highly enjoyable .
Can you use bottled water for sea monkeys?
You can use bottled water, distilled water, or any form of unchlorinated water. Avoid using carbonated water or tap water, as it often contains fluoride and other minerals that may not be good for your sea monkeys.
Is it cruel to keep sea monkeys?
Yes it is ethical because sea monkeys, infact you would be saving their lives. Sea monkeys are brine shrimp that can live in a extreme dryness. When they are in this state you can not tell that they are alive, but when you put them in water they are once again hydrated.
Should I remove dead sea monkeys?
Dead Sea-Monkeys change color from their normal translucent to black as they decompose. You need to remove Sea-Monkeys from the tank as soon as you notice they have died to prevent bacteria and illness from spreading to your healthy Sea-Monkeys.
Why did all my sea monkeys die?
Over feeding can cause bacteria to multiply in the tank and once out of control the bacteria will eat up all the oxygen from the water and your Sea-Monkeys will suffocate and die.
Can you bring sea monkeys back to life?
When you open your Sea Monkey kit, you’ll find what appears to be lifeless dust, but in essence, you’ll be looking at brine shrimp eggs. Add the sea salt chemical packet to some water and the “Sea-Monkeys” will spring to life!
Can you train sea monkeys?
You may not have known it, but these little creatures can actually be trained to do tricks. All you need is a light source and a Robo Diver or other device that dispenses food. After a few weeks your sea monkeys will automatically appear at the bottom of the tank where they’ll wait for the food to appear.
Can you add more sea monkey eggs?
You can add eggs to the existing tank no problem, the eggs are too large for the adults to eat as they are filter feeders :).

When females fertilize their own eggs it is called “parthenogenesis.” Litters yield about 20 Sea-Monkeys. As long as water is aerated every day and temperatures are kept at 82 degrees Fahrenheit, offspring reach sexual maturity after 12 days.

One of the causes is NOT cannibalism because adults don’t eat the young. The most critical factor is the availability of food for the babies after they hatch. The food has to be algae that will grow in an optimally acclimatized tank or there has to be sufficient food from #3 pouch.
