Is it possible to drive 18 hours straight?
If you start out well rested and know your limits and think you can handle the 18 hours in the car then there really is NO safety issue here. If you start feeling tired you stop and walk around the car a couple times or get some coffee. If you still cannot continue you find a rest stop and simply sleep a few hours.
