What is FAP fluid?
Some vehicle manufacture’s, notably Peugeot / Citreon / Ford use a fuel-borne catalyst called ‘EOLYS’ fluid, which is added to the diesel during fuelling. This. fluid enables the trapped particles to be burnt at a lower light-off temperature.
How does Pat fluid work?
The purpose of Eloy fluid is to keep the temperature down during regeneration. This will then lead to your DPF becoming blocked. There will be lots of warning lights and messages on the dash whilst all this is happening so you won’t be unaware of it!
What is particle filter additive?
Designed to eliminate all types of pollutant particulates emitted by diesel engines, including the finest, the PSA Group’s additive particulate filter eliminates 99.9% of particulates by number and 99% by weight.
Can you clean a particulate filter?
Can you clean a DPF? (Diesel Particulate Filter) – Yes, you can. DPF cleaning is one of the most commonly-requested services now amongst our 500+ TerraClean dealers. Many of our dealers actually provide this service to neighbouring garages who need to have their customers’ vehicles’ DPFs cleaned.
What does particle filter additive too low mean?
If the computer thinks the additive level is too low and the warning is ignored, it will soon stop injecting the additive into the tank. When this happens, the particulate filter won’t regenerate. If the filter stops regenerating, then it will soon become clogged up with soot.
How do you clean a DPF filter?
Using Cleaning Additives. Purchase a DPF cleaning additive to help clear the ash and soot. This bottle of fluid is designed to break down the ash and soot that’s clogging the filter. Visit your local motor supply store or look online to purchase a cleaning additive.
How much is a new DPF filter?
The cost of a diesel particulate filter replacement can vary greatly depending on engine power and vehicle make. However, the average DPF replacement cost is around £1,000-£2,000 in the UK. However, the usual price range can be between £750-£3,000. The majority of the cost is the material cost for the filter.
How long does it take for a DPF to regenerate?
The DPF regeneration cycle takes approximately an hour and a half (1 1/2 hours) to complete and can be completed as part of a routine service.
Is DPF Cleaner Any Good?
DPF cleaning additives are a chemical solution added to the fuel tank which claims to aid the cleaning of a DPF filter. This catalyst does not help increase the temperature of the DPF during a cleaning cycle however it does work to decrease the temperature at which the soot blocking the DPF will “burn off”.
