Why does my aftermarket radio have power but no sound?
Typically when a car stereo produces no sound it’s usually caused by a shorted or grounded wire, defective speakers, faulty head unit/fuses, or setup is not yet complete with your radio unit.
Why is my aftermarket stereo not working?
If there’s a problem in the wiring, the radio will definitely not work. Blown fuses are another common culprit. If the fuse is blown, the car’s audio circuit is broken and the radio cannot turn on. Finally, don’t forget to consider that a ground connector fail might be the source of your audio woes.
What do you do if your radio won’t turn on?
Common reasons your radio won’t power on
- Common Car Radio Problems.
- Check the Unit for Protect Mode.
- Check the Fuses.
- Check the Pigtail Connector.
- Check for Power at Head Unit.
- Check for Ground at Head Unit.
- Bench Test the Head Unit.
Can a bad battery cause radio to not work?
While a dead battery, or a jump start, can result in a car radio that doesn’t work, it could also be a pure coincidence. If your car radio stopped working after a jump start, or after a battery charge, then the problem might be related to a car radio code anti-theft feature.
Can I put a 5A fuse in a 13A plug?
No. You must use a 5A fuse. Using A 13A fuse is a fire risk. The fuse is there to protect the adapter in case of a fault.
Can you use a 13A fuse in a 3A?
IET Forums – 13A fuse in 3A plug. yes – but we are only protecting against a dead short at the applience, not normally some mild overload – a dead short takes out any fuse or none, overload is managed at the appliance end of the cable – which is the EU wide approach with non-fused plugs.
Is it OK to put a 13amp fuse in a 3 amp plug?
No it won’t. The only difference would be the current that flowed under fault conditions. If the OP replaced the cable on his lamp to a size that could handle at least 13A under normal/fault conditions then he could leave that 13A fuse in place until rapture!
What happens if I put a 5A fuse in a 10a plug?
Possibly yes. What ever is wired into that 5 amp slot is rated for a max of 5 amps, overdrawing more than 5 amps by removing the 5 amp fuse and putting in a 10 amp fuse can possibly short out a circuit. If there’s a short-circuit it’ll be more than 5 amps, or 13.
Can you use a 5A fuse instead of a 10a?
Possibly yes. It is possible to short out a circuit by overdrawing more than 5 Amp by removing the 5 Amp fuse and putting in a 10 Amp fuse.
Can I put a 15a fuse in a 10a slot?
Yes, the 15 Amp fuse may be sized for a device in that particular circuit, and the 10 Amp fuse may be very short lived.
