FAQ

How do you know if you have air in your fuel line?

How do you know if you have air in your fuel line?

The engine may start and run briefly, then stall and not start. Water in the fuel tank/line will cause the same effect. Air bubbles in a fuel line can lead to stalling, hiccuping or refusal to start. Keep your fuel lines free of air to help keep your car running smoothly.

How do you bleed a fuel rail?

To bleed the system one person cranks the engine while another person, working under the hood, uses a wrench to slightly loosen the connector fitting used to connect the fuel line to each fuel injector and leaves the connector loose until fuel can be seen leaking-out (otherwise known as bleeding-out) of the connection.

Do you need to bleed fuel system?

Most secondary fuel filters are equipped with a bleed screw. Then you must bleed the high-pressure fuel system, which is done by loosening the union nuts between the top of the fuel injectors and the fuel line; it just takes a turn or two. Once loosened, use the starter to crank the engine for 10 seconds.

Can you prime a fuel injected engine?

Fuel-injected engines do not need priming. The injection system measures precisely how much fuel to spray into the cylinder during the intake stroke. If the jets are clogged, then the vehicle will run poorly regardless of the climate.

Is it bad for a fuel injected car to run out of gas?

You may damage your fuel injectors. As the injectors run at a high pressure and temperature, they need constant fuel flow for lubrication and cooling. When an injector desperately tries to inject fuel but receives none, as there is no gas left in the tank, it may permanently fail due to overheating.

How do you Unflood a fuel injected engine?

Perhaps the best remedy for a flooded engine is time. Simply open the hood of your car and let excessive fuel evaporate for as long as you can. After about 20 minutes try starting your car again without hitting the gas pedal. If this still does not work, you may have to check your spark plugs.
