CorningWare is a brand of stoneware bakeware, used for preparing, serving and reheating food. If you use the cooking and care instructions suggested by the manufacturer, your CorningWare should last you for many years and provide consistent cooking results.

Can you heat a casserole dish on the stove?

Unfortunately, you cannot use your casserole over direct heat from a stovetop range. If you do, you probably will NOT crack it; It is more likely to break completely and spill its contents. Your clue is that the casserole is sold as bakeware, and is not marked or labeled as safe for the stovetop.

What can I use instead of a casserole dish?

Baking Dish or Casserole If you don’t have a casserole dish or the right size baking dish for a recipe, a baking pan or oven-safe Dutch oven or sauté pan can be used.

Can you put a casserole dish in the oven?

A casserole dish is always oven-safe. You can find a fairly shallow one for baking a lasagna or an apple crisp, or deeper ones that can hold an indulgent French toast bake. Some are made of metal so they can also be used on the stovetop, and others are glass or ceramic so they can go in the microwave.

Can you cover a casserole dish with tin foil?

Foil. A double sheet of foil works well as a lid when you need a closer fit than a sheet pan or a frying pan would provide. It’s a little more difficult to manipulate than a lid, but it traps heat and moisture just as effectively.
