How are Greenpeace funded?
At Greenpeace we are honoured that our work is funded almost entirely by donations given to us by passionate individuals from all over the world who care about the planet and want to help us create change, and by some grants from private charitable foundations who share our values.
Is Greenpeace a good place to donate?
Greenpeace should not be in the top ten. They are more interested in fund raising, ocean posing, meetings, unfurling banners for publicity, and more fund raising. They have truck loads of cash, but do very little to actively stop and intervene poaching and illegal fishing.

We defend the natural world and promote peace by investigating, exposing, and confronting environmental abuse, championing environmentally responsible solutions, and advocating for the rights and well-being of all people.

As a charity we champion greater understanding of our living planet, funding vital global projects to defend people and nature. Separate from the campaigning arm of Greenpeace, the Trust invests in scientific research, investigations and education.
Can Greenpeace claim gift aid?
Greenpeace Environmental Trust funds education, scientific research and investigative projects in world ecology. All income raised from your sponsorships will go to Greenpeace Environmental Trust to enable us to claim Gift Aid on these donations (where appropriate).

How are people combating global warming?

What has Greenpeace done over the years?
Here are just a few of Greenpeace’s successes since 1971:
- 1972: After the first Greenpeace action in 1971, the U.S. abandons nuclear testing grounds at Amchitka Island, Alaska.
- 1982: After at sea actions against industrial whalers, a whaling moratorium is adopted by the International Whaling Commission.
Why did they make Greenpeace?
Their mission: to protest underground nuclear testing by the US military at Amchitka, a tiny volcanic island off western Alaska. Though they were eventually stopped, these activists went on to create an organization called Greenpeace, with the belief that individual, non-violent action can create positive change.
