Is it faster to read in Braille?
There are even Braille teachers who do not expect speed and accuracy of their blind students. As a result, the students learn Braille as a chore and a drudgery. Experienced Braille readers, however, read Braille at speeds comparable to print readers-200 to 400 words a minute.
Can you speed read Braille?
Many Braille readers have never been encouraged to work to achieve good speed. But there is no need to continue forever as a slow reader. Some Braille readers develop a speed of 200 to 400 words per minute as small children. They will retain that speed with little or no effort.
Does Braille read left to right?
People read Braille by moving their fingertips from left to right across the lines of dots. The basic Braille code is called Grade 1 Braille and is a direct substitution of normal print letters for letters from the Braille alphabet.
What is the letter A in braille?

Can you teach yourself Braille?
Maybe your child is just getting ready to begin learning Braille or maybe your blind infant is years away from phonics lessons but you want to get a head start. Is braille for blind?
Braille is a system of raised dots that can be read with the fingers by people who are blind or who have low vision. Braille is not a language. Rather, it is a code by which many languages—such as English, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, and dozens of others—may be written and read.
What does Braille feel like?
When you first touch something written in braille, it will probably feel like a jumble of dots. However, like any other code, braille is based on a logical system. Once you understand it, you’ll be able to read and write braille easily.
