The bottom line is students can take Algebra 2 in 9th, 10th or 11th grade. Every school district work differently. Our district starts Algebra for really advanced kids at 7th grade. The Advanced kids take Algebra in 8th grade.
Should I take pre calc over the summer?
It is very easy to get bogged down in the algebra and trig while trying to solve your calculus problems. So much so that it can make learning calculus difficult. Wether or not you school will allow you to test out of it, it’s well worth studying it on your own over the summer.
Can you skip Calc AB?
Technically, you are not skipping anything, since, in BC calc, you learn all of Calc I in the first semester. The difference between AB and BC is the speed of the course. I would say that if you are prepared to keep up, BC will be just fine for you. You will still learn all of the same things, just at a faster speed.
Can you skip trig and go to calculus?
I skipped trig and went on to take higher level calculus classes just fine. You will need to learn the concepts but I was able to pick them up easily enough as I went along. If you trust yourself to learn quickly then go ahead and skip trig.
