Can electromagnetic waves affect each other?
There is a whole area of Electrical Engineering study that involves two perspectives on the same thing: “Electromagnetic Interference and Electomagnetic Compatibility”. Waves from two different objects will also interfere with each other.
How do cell phones not interfere with each other?
Andrea Goldsmith: You can break up the frequency spectrum in some way whether it’s time or frequency or codes so you assign it to users so they don’t interfere with each other. The base station assigns your call a unique combination of time, frequency or code that determines how it accesses radio frequencies.
Does each cell phone have its own frequency?

How do you stop electromagnetic interference?
The simplest way to reduce magnetically induced interference is to use twisted pair wires. This applies both for shielded and unshielded cables and for interference caused by shield currents or from other sources. Twisting the wires forces them close together, reducing the loop area and therefore the induced voltage.
