Can I connect two subwoofers to home theater?
The Two Subwoofer Solution If one of your subwoofers has both an RCA Line-in and Line out connection option, you can connect your home theater receiver’s subwoofer pre-out to your subwoofer’s line in and then connect the subwoofer’s line out to the line-in of a second subwoofer.
Can you connect more than one subwoofer to a soundbar?
Connecting a separate subwoofer to a soundbar is only doable, however, when both come together in a box and are designed to be paired. Sometimes, connecting an additional subwoofer is also possible if both the soundbar and the subwoofer are from the same manufacturer.
Can you mix and match subwoofers?
As a general rule, we do not recommend mixing and matching different brands of speakers in a surround sound system. Even mixing different lines within a particular brand can present problems. In fact, there is rarely any reason to keep your subwoofer the same brand as your main speakers, perhaps other than cosmetics.
Is it OK to use 2 different subwoofers?
Yes. You can run two different subs. It’s optimal to run two of the same because in your case, the weaker sub may reach it’s limits before the stronger one.
Can I mix speakers with different ohms?
While you can connect a mix of speakers with different ohm ratings, the best sound quality will come from equally rated speakers connected in pairs, such as two 8-ohm speakers connected to Speaker A on the amp or receiver and two 4-ohm speakers hooked up to Speaker B.
Which is better 4ohm or 8ohm speakers?
A lower impedance speaker will accept more power. For example, a 4 ohm speaker will extract more power from your amplifier than a 8 ohm speaker, about twice as much. For connecting a number of speakers with the same impedance in parallel, the total is the impedance of one speaker divided by the number of speakers.
Can I add a resistor to a speaker to change the impedance?
If you put a resistor in series with a speaker, it will change the speaker’s response based on the speaker’s impedance curve. This will make the speaker sound different.
Can I replace a speaker with a resistor?
You can change speaker impedance with resistors for two situations: To use a lower impedance speaker than you normally could with an amplifier or stereo. To use a higher impedance speaker where a lower one is needed (for example: speaker crossover designed only for a certain Ohm rating speaker).
What does a resistor do in a speaker?
Resistors do not change the phase of the signal, the time relationship between voltage (electrical pressure) and current (flow of electrons). They only consume power and convert it to heat. That is all they do. In a perfect speaker system there is no need for resistors at all.
Can I connect speakers in series?
When using more than one speaker with your amp the equivalent overall impedance changes depending on how the speakers are wired. You can wire multiple speakers “in series,” “in parallel” or in a combination of the two wiring configurations (“series/parallel”).
