In order to control the volume on the soundbar using my Directv remote here is what I did. I have a model RC-66 DTV remote. I switched the mode switch at the top to AV2. Then you press and hold the Mute & Select buttons simultaneously until the light on the remote flashes twice (approx 5 seconds).
