Do any games use mesh shaders?
Mesh Shaders performance boost Up until now, Mesh Shaders haven’t really been used in games yet since it is limited to only certain graphics cards. It was also hard to quantify really how much this feature will improve performance and was only available through the new DirectX 12 Ultimate API.
Are geometry shaders slow?
Most use-cases are slower on desktop, unlike it’s something very specific like nvidia’s passthrough. All other cases I have personally tested, like using gs to render to multiple cubemap faces, we’re slower than other techniques. On mobile it’s even worse, as geometry shaders are usually implemented in Software.
What is hull shader?
A hull shader is the first of three stages that work together to implement tessellation. The hull-shader outputs drive the tessellator stage, as well as the domain-shader stage. A hull shader transforms a set of input control points (from a vertex shader) into a set of output control points.
What is a tessellation shader?
Tessellation is a process that divides a surface into a smoother mesh of triangles. The new OpenGL 4.0 supports Tessellation Shaders. Tessellation Shaders sole purpose is to interpolate geometry to create additional geometry that can perform adaptive subdivision based on criteria such as size or curvatures.
What is DirectX 11 capable graphics card with Shader Model 5?
