Do teachers punish students for late submission of assignments in universities?
You can give a student who is sick an extended deadline (never leave the date open, or allow a student who just lost a loved one to have a few extra days to submit a project. If their work is late because of something that they had no control over, there should not be a punishment.
What is late submission?
If work is submitted more than 9 but less than 10 calendar days late, this is considered as a late submission and a penalty will be applied that results in the mark being reduced to zero. If the work is submitted more than 10 calendar days late then it is considered as a non-submission and a mark of zero applied.
