When kids reach puberty their bodies are wired differently. The folks at the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Centers for Disease Control say “Let them sleep.” They recommend delaying start times at middle and high schools to 8:30 am to combat sleep deprivation.
Why schools should start earlier?
Better sleep: Delayed start time could help teens sleep during their natural sleep/wake cycles. Less caffeine: Teens may be less likely to depend on caffeine to stay awake during the day.
