How can you tell a male from a female snail?
Look through the magnifying glass as the foot extends, training your vision on the right mantle cavity, attached to the inside of the shell over the head and neck. Keep your eyes peeled for the snail’s relatively large penis sheath. It will resemble the front of a pouch. If you don’t see one, the snail is female.
Are male mystery snails bigger than females?

Many municipal water supplies use chemicals like chlorine to treat tap water, which can be deadly to snails (though it’s safe for humans to drink). If you cannot use bottled water or pond water, you can simply let the tap water you’ll be pouring into the tank sit out in an open container for 24 hours.

Snails need light. Make sure you don’t leave the terrarium in direct sunlight as this can cause your snail to dry out.
