Why didn’t they use a Phoenix Down on aerith?
Because it wouldn’t have worked. As a quick reminder, in Final Fantasy VII a phoenix down cures the “Knocked Out” or “KO” status in battle. You are not dead when under this status, just incapacitated. As Aeris/Aerith was very much dead after getting impaled, the phoenix down wouldn’t have worked.
