Is the iron 883 fast enough?
The 883 has ‘enough’ power when it’s stock, but you’ll be craving more after a year or so. I rode a 500 Yamaha about half a dozen times and then bought my 1200 to finish learning on. You could do the same; the weight of both bikes are pretty equal, and it’s not like the 1200 is so fast it’ll ‘get away’ from you.

Is the iron 883 reliable?
The 883 is a smaller bore engine built on the same bottom end and driveline as the 1200, so even though it’s the hardest working engine in the fleet, the rest of the bike is built to handle a lot more torque and power, so in that light I would say it’s probably one of the most reliable of Harley’s fleet.
