D16Y7 is a really solid engine if you keep up on basic maintenance and don’t completely abuse it. No reason it couldn’t give you 150K of trouble-free miles, barring corrosion and parts with a shelf-life like rubber seals and gaskets.

the Y8 or Z6 would be the best vtec engines(personaly, i would perfer the z6) and the A6 i would say is the best non vtec SOHC dseries. also the d15b7 is really just a 1.5l A6 if you swap the cam and valve springs and most builds people change these past stock anyway.

Its true that for the amount of horse power produced, the D series will produce more torque, both sooner and for longer, than a B series will, but overall the B series will probably produce more hp and torque, just not as proportionatly.

You’ll probably pull about 105-110 at the wheels good condition assumed, it’s rated at 125 at the flywheel from the factory. To get the max out of it on stock internals for a good price you have to boost.

A built motor is always going to have a shorter life span than a stocker based on the fact its built loose in regards to the pistons. depends, LS1’s are built loose too and have tons of piston slap when cold, but they’ve been found to be reliable long lasting…
