How often should you walk your papillon?
While 30 minutes of exercise a day is likely enough to keep Papillons healthy and happy, many Papillons will enjoy extra playtime. Some members of our community find their Papillons will often exercise themselves by running around the house or garden…and still love to go for walks to meet other people and doggies.
Can Papillons go on long walks?
If the Papillon is socialized well, they can be trained to get along well with children and other pets in the house. A daily walk or trip to the park is great exercise for your Papillon.
Do Papillons calm down?
Papillon Temperament and Tendencies They are energetic but can also be calm, patient, gentle, and dignified. They love to be cuddled and thrive on human companionship. Their obedience and highly trainable traits make them good comfort pets. They do not excessively bark unless they sense danger.

Papillons are known to be social with other canines as well as humans. These dogs are prone to separation anxiety when left alone for prolonged periods of time. If they are alone for too long, they may start barking, or chew on your stuff. This breed is not recommended for owners who are not home most of the day.

With other animals, surprisingly, the Papillon is not as submissive as you might think. In fact, some Papillons are possessive and bossy, especially toward larger dogs. This can be dangerous, as the quick-moving Papillon may be viewed as prey.

Papillons can be easier to house train than other small breeds and they are eager to please humans they are bonded with. Porcelaines make great indoor dogs as they are easily housebroken and crate trained.
