Is design a discipline?
Management and design seemed to come from two different worlds: the world of planning and organization versus the world of creativity. Design Academy helped me to see that design is a discipline, not a type of product or industry.

Why is design history important?
They help you feel connected to people across time and help you see how much more similar we are than we sometimes think. It makes your problems feel less important when you know someone 500 or 1,000 years ago dealt with the exact same thing and survived. The stories also show the mistakes people made.

Involving five phases—Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype and Test—it is most useful to tackle problems that are ill-defined or unknown.
