Is psychology considered a science by universities?
Yes, these are counted as science subjects. Our preferred science subjects are Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Maths, but Geography and Psychology are also regarded as science or science-related subjects.
Do universities care about as levels?
The presence or absence of AS grades on your Ucas application won’t affect your consideration for a course: in fact, universities will be mindful of the fact that not all schools offer AS-levels. In the absence of AS grades, universities may look at your GCSE grades, as this will be the last formal assessment you took.
Can you go to uni with just as levels?
No, it isn’t enough unfortunately. You wouldn’t be able to manage an undergraduate degree with AS Levels only. GCSEs could be used to assess eligibility for a uni course Regardless of the subject you want to study, the majority of university courses look for at least a C grade in English, maths and perhaps science – that’s grade 4 or 5 under the revised structure.
Will universities lower entry requirements 2021?

Do GCSEs give UCAS points?
GCSE grades are not worth any UCAS points. And UCAS points do not affect GCSE grades. A-level, AS Level exams and IB diplomas are the essential for UCAS points as well as case dependent qualifications.
What gives extra UCAS points?
1. Volunteer. ASDAN offer community-based courses that can get you plenty of extra UCAS points, such as the CoPE (16 UCAS points) and Wider Key Skills (3 different qualifications available, 8 points each). Ask your school or college about undertaking these courses to up your UCAS points!

It’s not possible to apply to both Oxford and Cambridge in the same year, so students will have to choose one or the other. As mentioned above, an applicant’s choice of university should be driven by course choice. Therefore, it’s important for students to check the course details to see which one will suit them best.

However the rapid growth of the EPQ suggests that it offers students an opportunity to develop unique and complementary skills, for example, in planning and undertaking a piece of independent work. Students can also investigate subjects of personal interest that may not be covered in more traditional qualifications.

A top grade in your EPQ is worth the equivalent of half an A-Level (28 UCAS points) which could be invaluable when applying to universities. Time management skills, research skills, presentation skills, essay writing, etc. Having evidence of developing these skills will look great on your uni application and your CV.
