Is Sherwood Forest dog friendly?
No fires or barbecues are allowed anywhere in the forest. Please keep dogs on lead around the visitor centre and under close control at all times. They need to be on leads in some areas of the forest to protect vulnerable wildlife such as ground-nesting birds, or where we have cattle grazing.
Can I walk in Sherwood Forest?
Sherwood Forest is home to Europe’s largest collection of ancient oaks, and you can walk amongst the giants of this forest, on a trail that visits a number of them. You’ll see some of the other ancient oaks which share this forest with the mighty Major.
Can you take dogs to Sherwood Pines?
Yes it’s fine, dogs are allowed everywhere as long as you clean up after them.
Do you have to pay to walk around Sherwood Forest?
Entry is completely free. Parking costs £4 for non-members, and is chargeable for anything up to a full day, and is free for RSPB members.
Is Sherwood Forest worth visiting?
The forest itself is enchanting, and visiting the Major Oak Tree is a must. At the information centre you can get a free map which clearly shows all the walks that you can do.
Are there toilets at Sherwood Forest?
The only toilets on site are at our visitor centre. Plus a brand new Changing Places facility for visitors with disabilities, with toilet, shower and hoists.

Hi no camping in Sherwood Pines at the moment but there are plans for the future. The nearest one is Sherwood Forest Holiday Park at Kings Clipstone but it is a couple of miles away. You can stay the whole day with a camper / tent set up but the wardens empty the entire site.
