No fires or barbecues are allowed anywhere in the forest. Please keep dogs on lead around the visitor centre and under close control at all times. They need to be on leads in some areas of the forest to protect vulnerable wildlife such as ground-nesting birds, or where we have cattle grazing.

Sherwood Forest is home to Europe’s largest collection of ancient oaks, and you can walk amongst the giants of this forest, on a trail that visits a number of them. You’ll see some of the other ancient oaks which share this forest with the mighty Major.

Hi no camping in Sherwood Pines at the moment but there are plans for the future. The nearest one is Sherwood Forest Holiday Park at Kings Clipstone but it is a couple of miles away. You can stay the whole day with a camper / tent set up but the wardens empty the entire site.
