So all your hard work has paid off and you’re coming to Warwick. Congratulations on leaving that sixth form behind and moving on up into higher education. We’re the Library, let’s get acquainted…
So it’s finally here. A-level results day and you were up early, logging on to your UCAS account and getting in touch with your school. You’ve got the grades you need. Time to celebrate! Congratulations and welcome to the world of Warwick Uni and its fabulous Library. Your horizons are about to expand!
You might be surprised to discover the University of Warwick Library holds over 1 million printed volumes! We also have over 53,000 e-journals, 205,000 e-books and 480 databases to help support your learning and research. Okay, so we’re showing off a little. But over the course of your degree, you’ll probably find yourself spending quite a bit of time here too. Last year we had over 2 and a quarter million entries to the Library, with around 6,000-8,000 people coming through the Main Library gates during a typical term weekday. Soon you’ll be joining our throng.
October not soon enough? If you’re keen to get reading and live near to campus you can sign up as a Prospective Student. Just bring some ID and a letter confirming your offer of a place at the University to the Library Helpdesk on Floor 1 and you should be able to borrow up to 5 books from the beginning of September until your course commences and you get your full library membership. You can look for books and other materials on your subject using the Library Search on our Website.
If you don’t live near enough to visit, then have a look at the Library website to orientate yourself to our spaces and services. Our Get Started webpage gives you an overview of what you might need to get going. We’ll also be running library tours during Welcome Week and Week 1. You can book a space via the Get Started webpage (booking will open in September).
Remember to keep checking in with us on the Study Blog. We’ll be posting lots of information for new arrivals to help you get to grips with using the Library, preparing for your course and settling into study life at Warwick.
Welcome to Warwick! We look forward to meeting you.
