What are colleges looking for in a personal essay?
Many colleges ask you to write an essay or paragraph about why you’re applying to their school specifically. In asking these questions, admissions officers are trying to determine if you’re genuinely excited about the school and whether you’re likely to attend if accepted. I’ll talk more about this type of essay below.
Is ice dry water?
And it IS indeed dry. Regular ice is frozen water. When it gets warm, it melts and turns from solid ice back into liquid water.
Can you make dry ice at home?
While it’s almost certainly less expensive to get dry ice from a store, it’s possible to make it yourself using a CO2 fire extinguisher or pressurized carbon dioxide in a tank or cartridge. You can get carbon dioxide at several types of stores (sporting good stores and some cookware stores), or you can order it online.
Is dry ice dangerous?
Dry ice can be a very serious hazard in a small space that isn’t well-ventilated. As dry ice melts, it turns into carbon dioxide gas. If enough carbon dioxide gas is present, a person can become unconscious, and in some cases, die.
What happens if you pour water on dry ice?
If you mix dry ice with water, it will sublime—that is, change from a solid to a gas without existing in a liquid phase in between. If sublimation happens within an enclosed container, the carbon dioxide that’s produced will build up and this pressure will eventually cause a small explosion.
Can you pour hot water on dry ice?
Follow this tip: Let any remaining frozen dry ice melt into a gas in a well-ventilated space. Pouring warm water will help speed the process up.
Can you dump dry ice outside?
To safely dispose of dry ice simply leave it outside or in a well ventilated space and it will turn to gas and disappear. Don’t dispose of dry ice in the sink or toilet as it can freeze the water in your pipes cracking them.
Is it OK to put dry ice in your drink?
Dry ice is safe to use in cocktails, it will not alter the flavor in any way. The ice will sink to the bottom of your glass, but take extra precaution not to ingest it or touch it in any way.
