Do I need to prewash fusible interfacing?
Interfacing should be prewashed in the same way as your fabric. Prewash your interfacing as you do your fabric. If you don’t, when you do launder your completed project, you will find that your fabric and your interfacing shrink different amounts leading to bubbles and warping that can’t be ironed out.
Can fusible interfacing be washed in hot water?
You don’t have to ‘pre-wash’ fusible interfacing–just pre-treat it. As PattyE says, it’s really simple to soak the whole shooting match in very hot water in your bathtub (or even your washing machine) for 10 or 20 minutes, gently squeeze the water out (no twisting), and then just hang it over your shower curtain rod.

What can I use if I don’t have fusible interfacing?
I often substitute a woven fabric for interfacing, fusible or not. Cotton or poly/cotton broadcloth works well, as does a recycled sheet. Once you try it, you might not use purchased interfacing so much! Thread or machine basting will help hold it in place until the buttonhole is done, collar stitched together, etc.
Can I make my own interfacing?
Using the Mistyfuse, you could make almost anything into interfacing: silk chiffon, canvas, and anything in between. So you can achieve whatever weight or stiffness you need. But the really cool thing about this is that you can use a pretty, decorative fabric as your interfacing if you want!
Can I use stabilizer instead of interfacing?
