What are the requirements to get into the Air Force Academy?
Every cadet is different, but to earn an appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy, you must meet certain basic requirements.
- Be at least 17 but not past your 23rd birthday by July 1 of the year you enter the Academy.
- Be a United States citizen.
- Be unmarried with no dependents.
- Be of good moral character.

How hard is it to get into USAFA and can I get accepted? The school has a 11% acceptance rate ranking it #1 in Colorado for lowest rate of acceptance. Last year, 1,147 out of 10,354 applicants were admitted making USAFA a very highly competitive school to get into with a low chance of acceptance for typical applicants.
Do Air Force officers choose their job?
If the job you want is not available, your only choices are to choose a different job, or not enlist. The Air Force calls their enlisted jobs “Air Force Specialty Codes,” or “AFSCs.” The Air Force has two enlistment options: Guaranteed Job, and Guaranteed Aptitude Area.
Is it hard to get into OTS for Air Force?
While it’s a great option the Air Force Academy is very difficult to gain admittance and requires a congressional endorsement. Those that attend the Air Force Academy receive a world-class education that is completely paid for by the government. Third, you may attend AFROTC while you are in college.2
Is OTS harder than BMT?
OTS is far more academic and not at regimented as BMT. The first week or two somewhat resembles BMT in that MTIs are always around but then it’s more like a tech school environment from then on. Also, OTS is not very hard.
Do you get paid during OTS?
The personnel section at OTS does not have access to update Air National Guard or Air Force Reserve records. 4.1. 3. You will not get paid while in training until this is completed.8
Is becoming an officer worth it?
If your plan is to join the military and you have a college degree, it is definately worth it. Officers make a lot more money than an enlisted person. They are also treated much better.

Do I get BAH with dependents if I pay child support?
If you claim any dependents or pay child support, you generally receive BAH “with dependents.” This type of BAH is the same regardless of the number of dependents. BAH rates are published by the Defense Travel Management Office.
