Is AP harder than honors?
The level of rigor for both AP and honors courses varies by school and by state. At many schools, AP courses are much more difficult than honors courses, while at other schools the exact opposite is true. Also, some schools are just generally less challenging than others!
Is AP or IB better?
AP is a good option for students who like to study on their own. Additionally, IB offers higher-level and standard-level courses. IB higher level is, at some high schools, considered harder than AP. Definitely take AP Lang. Because you’ll likely take reading and writing tests on a weekly basis (if not, as in my class, several times a week), you’ll have considerably greater opportunities to improve your writing in an AP Lang class than you would in an honors or “on-level” high school English course.
Should I take AP lit or AP Lang?
In general, I’d recommend AP Lang for students interested in basically any career path and AP Lit for students interested in reading, writing, and humanities. With either class, students will have to put in time and effort (and a good deal of reading and writing) to succeed.
