What does it mean when a ferret poops blood?
Black and tarry stools usually indicate upper intestinal tract bleeding, many times as the result of stomach ulcers that ferrets are prone to. Ferrets with these signs may also have abdominal pain and be hunched up and/or grind their teeth.
Why is my ferrets nose red?

What is toxic to ferrets?
Avoid feeding your ferret bread, grains and seeds or any cakes, biscuits or treats made for humans. Anything that contains xylitol and is “sugar free” can be toxic to dogs, cats, and ferrets.
Do male ferrets smell worse than females?
Smell. De-sexing helps the smell problem significantly for both species. Females are, however, slightly less smelly than their male counterparts, who can get SOOO smelly while in rut your neighbours can smell him!
How often should you bathe your ferret?
Keep the cage and litter clean and it will help keep your ferret smelling fresh. Bathing tends to dry out the skin and coat, at most bathe once a month. Unless your ferret has gotten into something that needs to be washed off, a bath every two to three months is probably plenty.
Do ferrets like to go outside?
Yes you can. Ferrets love playing outside in the snow, and enjoying tunneling and chasing one another. Playing provides excellent environmental and mental stimulation for them. You should make sure you keep your ferrets on a leash and harness if they’re playing outside, to prevent them from escaping.
Do ferrets get cold easily?
Similar to cats and dogs, ferrets require semi-annual check-ups and annual vaccinations. Ferrets cannot survive temperatures above 90 degrees Fahrenheit, and it is recommended that they be kept in your home’s coolest room; they can tolerate very cold temperatures when they have dry housing and are well-fed.
Can ferrets be pets?
Domesticated originally for vermin control, they now make extremely popular pets and are legal in all or parts of every state except California and Hawaii. Despite intensive lobbying to legalize ferrets in California, however, you cannot legally keep a ferret in California without a permit.
Should ferrets be kept in cages?
Ferrets should normally be confined in a safe, secure area such as a cage when they are not under direct supervision. They also need a small cosy sleeping area in their cage. Ferrets are vulnerable to heat stress, so you should ensure the area they are kept in will not become too hot.
