The Collins Writing Program is a proven, unified, research-based writing program designed to be used in all classrooms, all subject areas, and all grade levels. It offers all teachers writing strategies designed to help students understand and recall content. The program is organized around Five Types of Writing.

Bad writing is written defensively; good writing is a way of making the self as vulnerable as possible. But because the material is so close to them they can’t mess around with it enough to learn how writing works. And, ultimately, they lack the will to betray the material sufficiently to make it true.
