What is a horse dressage competition?
In Dressage competitions, horse and rider perform a series of predetermined movements, known as ‘figures’ or “movements” in an arena of either 20×60 metres or occasionally 20×40 metres. Competitions are also provided for Para-Equestrians (PE), a recognised Olympic Sport.
Is dressage harder than jumping?

Should dressage horses jump?
Jumping is good for them. It’s a change, can be less intense work then dressage and it uses/stretches slightly different muscles.

Have fun in your jumping. Set up a round against the clock (safely) so that you distract yourself from the jumps and focus on getting a good time. Keep all jumps the same apart from one (somewhere in the middle) so that you can gain confidence before and after and work through the nerves over the middle jump.
