What is a subframe bushing?
Your BMWs subframe bushings were designed to mitigate vibration and harshness. When mileage accumulates these bushings dry out, crack, and eventually split. When this happens vibrations and noise increase.
How many subframe bushings does a car have?
They help hold the components that are connected to the subframe. The design and configuration of the subframe determines how many bushings it can have. Subframes can have anywhere from two to more than eight bushings.
Can a subframe be fixed?
The subframe is a structural part of the vehicle—and patching it up can compromise its integrity. When there’s severe rust, replacing the subframe is the only recommended method of repair.
Can you drive with a broken subframe?
Can you drive a car with a bent subframe? You can drive a vehicle with a bent frame if the vehicle is still aligned well and it will drive in a straight line, but at your own risk. If you’re in another collision with a bent frame much of the vehicle’s strength could be compromised.
Can you drive with a broken rear subframe?
It’s probably not safe to drive with a cracked sub frame. I’d keep it to speeds under 30-35 mph. Everyone has different tolerances for risk, but it were me, I’d do a claim through insurance and make sure its done right the first time. The risk is too high (IMO) to save a couple of hundred dollars.
Do you need a subframe brace?
If your class rules allow for it, install the subframe brace. Cornering loads are very high in Auto-X so you’re more likely to experience this problem than us track day guys. It will also help you get a better feel for the rear end which will probably help with this too.
Does eg subframe fit Ek?

Is EG and DC subframe the same?
The subframes themselves are the same. As well as the mounting points to the steering rack where the rack/pinion is are the same. The only difference between the two is the welded bracket on the passenger side where the clamp is — because a power steering rack is bigger in diameter than a non-power steering rack.
Can you drive without rear crossmember?
You’ll be fine.
