What is directed research?
Directed Research is an opportunity for students to get involved with research under the supervision of a faculty member. This experience is particularly valuable for students interested in pursuing honors and/or graduate study in psychology.
What is directed reading course?
A directed readings course is essentially a one-on-one independent study at the graduate level, which the student arranges individually with a professor if the topic is not already covered in regularly offered courses. Several students may arrange for a directed readings course together, if appropriate.
How do directed studies work?
Directed study courses are designed to enable advanced undergraduates to pursue independent research under the guidance of a faculty member. Directed Study courses offer students the opportunity to work in a focused area and in an environment that allows for considerable individual attention.
How does an independent study class work?
In an independent study, you essentially create your own course on a topic of your choice, working in concert with your faculty advisor or other COE faculty member. In some cases, faculty members are willing to have you assist with their research projects or will guide your study on a topic of mutual interest.
What is directed studies in high school?
Course Description: The Directed Studies class supports students in the completion of academic tasks assigned in their general education classes. This class allows students time to bring general education assignment questions to class in order to support assignment completion.
How do I get into Yale Directed Studies?
Prerequisites. Directed Studies has no prerequisites and is designed for students with or without any background in humanities or Western thought, ancient or modern. (In order to enroll for the second term, students must have completed the first term’s courses.)
What is a reading course?
A reading course is a specially designed course not normally offered as part of the curriculum that is arranged between a student and a faculty member. The course is run as a tutorial and counts as a regular course. It may count as a departmental in your concentration but may not satisfy distribution requirements.
